The first dinner!
With enough space to receive friends, we invited a few of them for a dinner in our "patio" with beer, wine and "fire". Was not the oficial opening party for our house... wich still was in the process to organizate with all the things, but two of our friends from netherlands were leaving Guatemala in the next days, so was the only chance to celebrate with them. Was my first time cooking for a lot of people, at the end of the night I served 16 meals with succes :) and still I did enjoy my own.
Nieuwe huis · Neue Haus · New House
Coming back to Guatemala, a new plan that I had already been keeping in my pocket before going to the meditation. With a clean mind and reloaded and renewed visions we moved in a new direction and started to play again with our choices in life, and the focus in the present without worries. Next step: leave our nice apartment and change it for a house with space, garden, rooms, patio, and potential to do something very nice.
Prima!
So, my new goal was to find a new house with enough space for us and extra rooms to prepare and offer to rent to others who are coming to live to Guatemala, because we like the athmospere and being with travellers and people from diferent countries. I had been living with traveller since years, so I felt ready to start my own space.
The first day in Xela I did my first walking in town, waiting to see the indicate place to take for our next home. And it came sooner than I expected. The negociation of that took a few days more... but in less that two weeks I had the keys in my hands... and a lot of new things to do.

Some days to paint, repair things, remodelate and buy everything. Since september 5, just after two weeks we moved in to our new place, wich has a lot of space and looks so comfortable.
The first step was ready. So the next one is to rebuild behind with new rooms that will be finished soon and we will be ready to receive 3 new housemates :)

Vipassana · San Salvador
Since some years I heard about Vipassana, a kind of intensive course for all those who are looking for some answers about life. I had been thinking to do that since 2004, but the true is that I never felt ready enough to do something like that. Perhaps a little bit more time to clear my own ideas, or some work to do, a new trip to plan, etc. Finally the time came, and Margo and me decided that it was a good time to go there... and who knows... try a new experience. Vipassana is a course that is been tought all around the world so always exists the chance for everyone to find one near. So the next one for us was in San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador.

VIPASSANA means "see all the things as they truly are", and it is a technique of meditation that has been tought since 2,500 years ago. After my readings in deep books and spiritual matters I knew a lot of things about meditation, but never tried. But I knew it in my mind. But Vipassana showed me by experience inside of my self. So, doing that... I started to understand all the things that intellectually I supposed to understand, but did not.
During 10 days, isolated, without visual contact with others, without talking, without writing, whitout reading, without speaking... and after days even without thinking :) Just living in silence during 10 days, and following instructions... a big understanding came, without words... just with some presence, something impossible to describe... but answers and answers about the meaning of life came.
I could really say to my friends... go there and see what happens to you :)
